IPM Perspectives for Carrot Foliar Diseases in Wisconsin (A3945)
نویسنده
چکیده
Overview Each year the commercial carrot crop in Wisconsin suffers losses from alternaria leaf blight, cercospora leaf spot, and aster yellows. The first two are diseases caused by fungi (Alternaria dauci and Cercospora carotae). The third is a disease caused by the aster yellows phytoplasma, a parasitic bacterium of carrot phloem tissue and also of the aster leafhopper (Macrosteles quadrilineatus) that spreads it from carrot plant to carrot plant as it feeds.

Field evaluation of carrot cultivars for susceptibility to fungal leaf blight diseases in New York
Carrot cultivars grown in New York were evaluated for susceptibility to the fungal leaf blight pathogens Alternaria dauci (1999) and Cercospora carotae (2000–03) in an experimental field under continuous carrot cultivation since 1996. Replicated plots were established in a randomized complete block design. Plants were rated for disease incidence and severity at regular intervals. Cultivar susce...
متن کاملUse of Ipm in the Control of Multiple Diseases in Maize: Strategies for Selection of Host Resistance
Maize (Zea mays) production in sub-Saharan Africa is constantly threatened by the potential outbreak of multiple foliar diseases such as maize streak, northern leaf blight, gray leaf spot, and rust. Improvement of host resistance to these diseases can provide an important component of integrated pest management (IPM). In this paper, conventional and molecular marker-assisted breeding approaches...

An improvement in growth, condition, raw material quality, and resistance of vegetable plants to adverse stress conditions or agricultural pests can be achieved by using foliar-applied biostimulators. Cover cropping is also of great importance since it contributes, among others, to a better use of environmental conditions and fertilization by plants. In the period 2009–2011, a field experiment ...

Selectivity of pesticides to beneficial arthropods is a key data for the implementation of IPM program. In the context of field vegetables crop, a set of 16 fungicides, 17 herbicides and 14 insecticides commonly used in Belgium were tested on 5 indicator species: the parasitic hymenoptera Aphidius rhopalosiphi (De Stefani-Perez) (Hym., Aphidiidae), the aphid foliage dwelling predators Adalia bi...
